Our Team: Flow Cytometry

Bieke holds a PhD in Biotechnology from Ghent University, and both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Bioscience Engineering. Since joining Cerba Research in January 2020, she has grown into a key leader in flow cytometry. She oversees assay development, leads a team of flow cytometry scientists, and ensures the delivery of high-quality analytical services while driving innovation and operational excellence.

With deep expertise in the design, validation, and implementation of customized multi-color flow cytometry assays, particularly in oncology, Bieke combines a strong technical foundation with broad scientific knowledge.

Now combining scientific leadership with people management, Bieke is passionate about advancing clinical research and helping both clients and team members succeed. She is particularly driven by the power of flow cytometry as a technology, enabling rich, high-dimensional insights from minimal sample volumes across a diverse range of diseases and therapeutic approaches.

Leen holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Biotechnology and joined Cerba Research in January 2020. She oversees the validation and clinical implementation of flow cytometry assays, ensuring they are robust, reliable, and fit for purpose, with a strong focus on immuno-oncology.

With deep expertise in high-parameter and spectral flow cytometry, Leen combines a broad scientific background with practical experience across inflammatory diseases, tissue-specific immunology, and diverse analytical techniques. She is passionate about designing tailored assays that advance clinical research and enjoys mentoring colleagues while solving complex technical challenges.

For Leen, the field represents the perfect blend of scientific expertise, innovation, and meaningful clinical impact, made even richer by collaboration with her team and partnerships with clients.

Matthias holds a PhD in Immunology and a master’s degree in Biology from Ghent University. He joined Cerba Research in 2021 and is responsible for the validation of custom flow cytometry assays on FACSLyric and Cytek Aurora platforms, ensuring robust, high-quality data to support clinical trials. He also authors our flow cytometry blogs.

With expertise in immunology and human hematopoiesis, particularly T cell development, Matthias specializes in advanced flow cytometry and immunological profiling. He is passionate about improving clinical trials and translating scientific insights into meaningful outcomes for patients, combining technical precision with a focus on real-world clinical impact.

Sanaz holds a PhD in Biotechnology and Immuno-oncology and joined Cerba Research in 2023. She supports clinical trials through the development and validation of multiparametric flow cytometry assays, contributing to robust, high-quality data generation. Her role includes assay development and validation activities, as well as global study support, and she also authors our flow cytometry blogs.

With expertise in flow cytometry and immuno-oncology, Sanaz specializes in applying advanced multiparametric approaches to support immunotherapy-focused clinical trials. She is passionate about advancing the use of flow cytometry in immunotherapy, particularly to improve biomarker discovery and enhance clinical trial outcomes, bridging technical innovation with meaningful clinical impact.
